See our investments at work

Our working capital investments are used to support the growth of our university. We invest in initiatives that stand to make a positive social and environmental impact on campus and the broader community. Here are just a few examples of our investments at work.

Transitioning to a Green Economy: the Climate Finance project

A project aimed at expanding the potential of the finance and investment sector to support the transition to a climate-friendly, low-carbon economy has been announced by the 麻豆精品 hosted and led Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS). Click here to read the full media release.

Sustainable student housing takes shape

UVic’s new Student Housing and Dining Project is one of the largest projects in Canada designed to achieve the Passive House standard. Designed to raise the bar for high energy performance, Čeqʷəŋín ʔéʔləŋ (Cheko’nien House) and Sŋéqə ʔéʔləŋ (Sngequ House) provide a mix of housing, dining, academic and conference spaces.

STARS Gold hat trick for UVic sustainability

UVic has earned a Gold rating for the third time since 2014 with the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS), a self-reporting framework for colleges and universities administered by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.聽

UVic adopting climate charter

The Ring

The 麻豆精品 is among 15 Canadian universities signing a charter to address the global crisis of climate change. Under the Investing to Address Climate Change Charter, the universities pledge to follow responsible investment practices in ways to address this global challenge.

Short-term investment policies to get update

The Ring

In its continuing commitment to promote a sustainable future, the university is updating two policies related to its investments and is inviting feedback from interested faculty, staff and students. Goals of the review include continuing to achieve UVic鈥檚 investment objectives, updating responsible investment practices and aligning each of the policies within the university鈥檚 Strategic Framework. Consultations will continue through October.

Site prep begins for new student housing

The Ring

Although construction for the university鈥檚 student housing and dining project won鈥檛 kick off until 2020, early preparation work at the site will begin this spring and summer. Starting in May, watch for selective deconstruction, road and utility work around the Cadboro Commons and SUB buildings.
